Matthew (Buckey) Biesak, BS, CPLC

LIFE COACH

(he/him)

Buckey holds a bachelor’s degree in Adventure Education from Plymouth State University, where he discovered the power of the outdoors as a catalyst for personal growth and mental health. His early career included roles in outdoor adventure parks and therapeutic programs, where he cultivated skills in leadership, client support, and emotional resilience.

After moving west, Buckey's passion for mental health and outdoor education deepened during his time as a Field Instructor at Evoke Therapy Programs in Utah. Here, he guided teens and young adults through challenging experiences in nature, utilizing therapeutic techniques to promote self-awareness, emotional healing, and effective communication. Buckey’s approach emphasizes the value of nature, motivation vs discipline and identifying daily actions/goals that align with a client's values. His experience includes facilitating group therapy, leading mindfulness practices, and helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, and substance use challenges.

Today, Buckey is based in Asheville, working at Red Cedar Transitions. He partners with clients on their mental health journeys, using real world interventions and a holistic approach to support healing, personal growth, and life transitions. In his free time, Buckey enjoys hunting, hanging out with his young daughter and playing pool.
